Vietnam: Regulations on structure of the university training program

This is the content mentioned in the Draft Circular providing standards training programs of higher education in Vietnam.

The Draft Circular stipulates the structure of qualification training programs for higher education levels as follows:

- The structure of the university-level and specialized training program consists of general education content and professional education content. Contents of professional education include: basic content of industry, main industry content, sub-sector content (if any), pedagogical content (for teacher training programs), supplementary content and graduation thesis (if any). The head of the training institution shall decide on the ratio of elective credits in the main content, the content of the sub-discipline or the complementary knowledge of the training program.

- Minimum learning content (number of credits) in a bachelor's degree program must ensure a minimum of 24 credits for general education content, 30 credits for major content and 15 credits for minor content (if any). If the training program has a bi-disciplinary structure, the learning content of the second major must ensure at least 30 credits and the learning volume of the entire training program must be at least 150 credits.

- Minimum academic content (number of credits) in specialized, specialized degree training programs totaling at least 150 credits for the entire program must ensure a minimum of 24 credits for general education content, 45 credits for major content and 15 credits for minor content (if any).

- The minimum learning content (number of credits) in the specialized, specialized degree training program totals at least 180 credits for the entire program must ensure at least 24 credits for general education content, 60 credits for major content and 15 credits for minor content (if any).
