Regulations on passing the theoretical knowledge of the law test to restore driver license points in Vietnam from January 1, 2025

On November 12, 2024, the Minister of Public Security of Vietnam issued Circular 65/2024/TT-BCA stipulating the assessment of legal knowledge regarding road traffic order and safety for the purpose of restoring driver license points.

Regulations on passing the theoretical knowledge of the law test to restore driver license points in Vietnam from January 1, 2025

According to Clause 3, Article 6 of Circular 65/2024/TT-BCA, the timing, test structure, and theory test results for legal knowledge required to restore driver license points  in Vietnamare as follows:

- An individual taking the test for a category A1 driver license is given 19 minutes to complete it. The test consists of 25 multiple-choice questions, each worth 1 point, with 1 question designated as a decisive question. A score of 21/25 points or higher is required to pass. If the result is 21/25 points or higher but the decisive question is answered incorrectly, the test is not passed;

- An individual taking the test for a category A, B1 driver license is given 19 minutes to complete it. The test consists of 25 multiple-choice questions, each worth 1 point, with 1 question designated as a decisive question. A score of 23/25 points or higher is required to pass. If the result is 23/25 points or higher but the decisive question is answered incorrectly, the test is not passed;

- An individual taking the test for a category B driver license is given 20 minutes to complete it. The test consists of 30 multiple-choice questions, each worth 1 point, with 1 question designated as a decisive question. A score of 27/30 points or higher is required to pass. If the result is 27/30 points or higher but the decisive question is answered incorrectly, the test is not passed;

- An individual taking the test for a category C1 driver license is given 22 minutes to complete it. The test consists of 35 multiple-choice questions, each worth 1 point, with 1 question designated as a decisive question. A score of 32/35 points or higher is required to pass. If the result is 32/35 points or higher but the decisive question is answered incorrectly, the test is not passed;

- An individual taking the test for a category C driver license is given 24 minutes to complete it. The test consists of 40 multiple-choice questions, each worth 1 point, with 1 question designated as a decisive question. A score of 36/40 points or higher is required to pass. If the result is 36/40 points or higher but the decisive question is answered incorrectly, the test is not passed;

- An individual taking the test for a category D1, D2, D, BE, C1Q, CE, D1E, D2E, DE driver license is given 26 minutes to complete it. The test consists of 45 multiple-choice questions, each worth 1 point, with 1 question designated as a decisive question. A score of 41/45 points or higher is required to pass. If the result is 41/45 points or higher but the decisive question is answered incorrectly, the test is not passed.
