Testing procedures for equipment designed for continuous operation in Vietnam
Lê Trương Quốc Đạt

On November 27, 2023, the Minister of Information and Communications of Vietnam issued Circular 17/2023/TT-BTTTT on National Technical Regulations on short-range radio devices in the frequency range from 9 kHz to 25 MHz and magnetic ring devices operating in the frequency range from 9 kHz to 30 MHz (QCVN 55:2023/BTTTT).

Testing procedures for equipment designed for continuous operation in Vietnam

Specifically, if the manufacturer declares that the device is designed for continuous operation, the testing procedure is as follows:

- Before testing at the above critical temperature, the device must be placed in the measurement room until thermal balance is reached. After reaching thermal balance, the device is powered on and in the transmitting state for a period of 30 minutes. Then perform the tests.

For tests at lower temperatures, the equipment shall be placed in the test room until thermal balance is achieved. After reaching thermal balance, the device is powered on for 1 minute, after which it must satisfy the requirements in the standard.

Testing procedures for equipment designed to operate intermittently

If the manufacturer claims the device is designed for intermittent operation, the test procedure is as follows:

- Before testing at the above critical temperature, the device must be placed in the measurement room to achieve thermal balance, then:

+ Turn on and off the generator according to the operating cycle announced by the manufacturer within a period of 05 minutes; or

+ If the manufacturer announces an operating cycle of more than 01 minute, play for no more than 01 minute, then leave the device in off or standby mode for about 04 minutes; The device must then satisfy the requirements in the standard.

- For tests at lower critical temperatures, place the device in the measurement room until thermal balance is reached. When thermal balance is achieved, place the device in standby or receiver mode for 1 minute, after which the device must satisfy the requirements in the standard.

More details can be found in Circular 17/2023/TT-BTTTT, taking effect on July 1, 2024. Clause 15 of Article 1 of Circular 29/2011/TT-BTTTT expires from July 1, 2024.
