Circular 50/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulates that the college-level crane operation is a profession where practitioners control various types of cranes to load and unload goods, lift equipment, materials, construct civil, industrial, transportation, irrigation, hydropower projects, internal ports, sea ports, production and business facilities, etc. meeting the level 5 requirement in the Vietnamese National Qualifications Framework. At the same time, intermediate-level crane operation is a profession where practitioners control various types of cranes, etc. to load and unload goods, lift equipment, materials, construct civil, industrial, transportation, irrigation, hydropower projects, internal ports, sea ports, production and business facilities, etc. meeting the level 4 requirement in the Vietnamese National Qualifications Framework.
The main tasks of a Crane Operator include: drafting the construction plan for loading and unloading goods and materials; moving the crane to loading and unloading positions; lifting, unloading goods, digging materials and constructing machinery installation or components; checking, maintaining cranes and work equipment; handling situations during construction operations; organizing, managing production; disassembling, replacing work equipment as required; performing labor safety, fire prevention, and industrial hygiene.
The primary equipment and tools used by practitioners include: crawler cranes, tire cranes, overhead cranes, gantry cranes, tower cranes, deck cranes, clamshell equipment, piling equipment, repair and maintenance tools, chock tools, cables, chains, ropes, loading and unloading tools, protective labor equipment.
The working environment characteristics of the profession: typically working in factories, construction sites, ports, etc.; requiring teamwork coordination; working conditions and environments are hot, dusty with many potential safety risks. Therefore, Crane Operators need to have organizational discipline awareness, occupational ethics, industrial manner, sufficient health, and quick reactions to handle occurring situations.
