Vietnam: Students majoring in intermediate-level operation of road construction machinery must study 52 credits

This is an important content of Circular No. 50/2018/TT-BLDTBXH of the Ministry of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam regulating the minimum knowledge requirements and competency that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate and college levels in the fields of mining engineering and other technical fields.

College Students in Road Construction Machine Operation Must Complete 52 Credits, Circular 50/2018/TT-BLĐTBXH

Specifically, Circular 50/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulates that college-level operation of road construction machinery is a field where practitioners operate various machines such as graders, rollers, pavers, and related road construction machines for building road structures of bridges and highways, meeting level 4 requirements of the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework. The minimum required knowledge volume is 1,480 hours (equivalent to 52 credits). This includes the following knowledge:

  • Presenting the regulations on technical diagrams for road construction;
  • Understanding the properties, uses, classification, and maintenance methods of various fuels and lubricants used in road construction machines;
  • Describing the structure, operating principles, and technical characteristics of various road construction machines (graders, rollers, pavers, and related road construction machines);
  • Outlining the maintenance procedures (after 8-12 hours of operation) for graders, rollers, pavers, and related road construction machines;
  • Discussing road construction methods using various machines like graders, rollers, pavers, and related equipment;
  • Identifying simple machine malfunctions and troubleshooting methods during the construction process;
  • Explaining the principles and significance of labor safety techniques and environmental hygiene when operating and maintaining road construction machines;
  • Understanding basic knowledge of politics, culture, society, law, national defense, physical education according to regulations.
