Vietnam: Skills required for learners majoring in intermediate-level operation of road construction machinery

Recently, the Ministry of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam issued Circular No. 50/2018/TT-BLDTBXH regulating the minimum knowledge requirements and competency that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate and college levels in the fields of mining engineering and other technical fields.

Skills required for learners majoring in intermediate-level operation of road construction machinery​ (Illustration)

According to Circular 50/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, learners majoring in intermediate-level operation of road construction machinery​ must possess the following skills:

  • Ability to read road construction drawings;

  • Capability to prepare for preliminary tasks for graders, rollers, pavers, and other related road construction machinery;

  • Proficiency in operating various graders, pavers, rollers, and related machinery to construct road surface layers in the correct sequence, ensuring technical requirements and labor productivity;

  • Ability to handle simple mechanical incidents during the construction of road surface layers;

  • Maintenance skills for various rollers, graders, pavers, and related machinery after 8-12 hours of use as per technical requirements;

  • Organizational skills to implement labor safety and environmental hygiene measures and to provide first aid to injured persons in construction sites;

  • Ability to share and guide lower-skilled workers in job knowledge and skills;

  • Basic information technology skills as per regulations, and the ability to apply IT in specialized tasks within the industry;

  • Basic foreign language skills, achieving level 1/6 in Vietnam’s Foreign Language Competency Framework, and the ability to apply foreign language skills in specialized tasks within the industry.
