Vietnam: 03 objectives for ensuring national food security by 2030

On September 01, 2020, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam issued Directive 13/CT-BCT on ensuring national food security by 2030.

To ensure national food security in all situations by 2030, the Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam requests that heads, officials, and public employees, as well as employees of agencies and units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam thoroughly implement and strengthen the rigorous implementation of the following three objectives:

- Provide and distribute a sufficient, diverse, and safe array of foods such as meat, eggs, milk, seafood, fruits, and beverages with increasingly higher quality, contributing to economic growth, enhancing the living standards of the people, and maintaining political and social stability in all circumstances;

- Increase investment in agriculture and rural areas; apply advanced science and technology in production, processing, preservation, and circulation to improve the quality of food processing; reduce costs, and diversify processed food products so that people can access nutritious food at reasonable prices;

- Enhance the added value of products and market access to help farmers increase income, improve living standards, and sustainably bond with agriculture.
