The Politburo of Vietnam requests continued research on the merger of some provincial administrative units

At the meeting on February 14, 2025, after hearing the report from the Central Organization Commission on certain contents and tasks to continue the arrangement and streamlining of the political system's organizational structure in 2025, the Politburo Assigned the Communist Party to authorize the Government of Vietnam to continue the arrangement and completion of the organizational structure of the political system in 2025 and for the 2025 - 2030 term with tasks specifically prescribed in Conclusion 126-KL/TW of 2025 as follows:

- Direct the Communist Party to authorize the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam and related agencies and units to promptly complete the Scheme for reorganizing the inspection system, reporting to the Politburo at the meeting on February 18, 2025.

- Lead, direct review, evaluate, and reorganize the activities of party organizations in corporations, state commercial banks, aligning them with the direction of transferring basic party units (enterprises) belonging to corporation party committees to the jurisdiction of local party committees according to their business operation areas (report to the Secretariat by the end of Q2/2025).

- Preside over, cooperate with the Central Organization Commission, the Communist Party's National Assembly delegation, and related party organizations to research the orientation for continued arrangement by eliminating intermediate administrative levels (district levels); develop plans to further arrange commune levels in accordance with the new organizational model; propose the organizational structure, functions, duties, powers, responsibilities of the commune level; orient the merger of certain provincial administrative units; propose policies to amend and supplement relevant legal provisions and the Party's related regulations, reporting to the Politburo in Q3/2025.
