Amendments to electronic border procedures in visa issuance at border gates in Vietnam from April 1, 2025

On February 12, 2025, the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam issued Decision 03/2025/QD-TTg amending Decision 15/2019/QD-TTg on the implementation of electronic border procedures at border gates managed by the Ministry of National Defense.

Amendments to electronic border procedures in visa issuance at border gates in Vietnam from April 1, 2025

In Decision 03/2025/QD-TTg, the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam amended the regulations regarding electronic border procedures in visa issuance at border gates on the National Single Window portal as follows:

When the electronic border procedure portal is fully connected to the National Single Window portal, electronic border procedures in visa issuance at border gates are carried out through the National Single Window portal in accordance with the regulations on implementing the National Single Window Mechanism and provisions in Decision 15/2019/QD-TTg.

When the electronic border procedure portal is not fully connected to the National Single Window portal or if there is a malfunction with the National Single Window portal, electronic border procedures in visa issuance at border gates are to be completed via the electronic border procedure portal as prescribed in Decision 15/2019/QD-TTg.

(According to the current regulation, when the electronic border procedure portal is not fully connected to the National Single Window portal or if there is a malfunction with the National Single Window portal, electronic border procedures in visa issuance at border gates are completed via the electronic border procedure portal as regulated in Decision 15/2019/QD-TTg)

The use of digital signatures, the issuance, and cancellation of accounts for accessing the electronic border procedure portal by individuals processing visas at the border gate is done according to Articles 6, 7, 8 of Decision 15/2019/QD-TTg (for individuals processing procedures at land border gates) or according to the Ministry of National Defense's regulations on executing electronic border procedures at seaports (for individuals processing procedures at port border gates).
