The date of birth of teachers who are required to undergo advanced training in Vietnam according to Decree 71/2020/ND-CP

Recently, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 71/2020/ND-CP stipulating the roadmap for upgrading the standard qualifications of preschool, primary, and secondary school teachers.

The date of birth of teachers who are required to undergo advanced training in Vietnam according to Decree 71/2020/ND-CP

Decree 71/2020/ND-CP clearly stipulates the subjects required to undergo advanced training based on retirement age, current qualifications, and individual conditions of each teacher.

To facilitate easy reference and comprehension of the regulations for teachers,  the subjects required to undergo advanced training has compiled according to the table below:

Preschool teachers Without a college degree in pedagogy or higher Male: From October 1, 1966, onwards


Female: From March 1, 1971, onwards
Primary school teachers Without a bachelor's degree in primary education or without a bachelor's degree in a relevant specialization and a pedagogy training certificate or higher Intermediate level Male: From July 1, 1966, onwards


Female: From November 1, 1970, onwards
College level Male: From October 1, 1966, onwards


Female: From March 1, 1971, onwards
Secondary school teachers Without a bachelor's degree in education or without a bachelor's degree in a relevant specialization and a pedagogy training certificate or higher   Male: From October 1, 1966, onwards


Female: From March 1, 1971, onwards

According to: Article 2 Decree 71/2020/ND-CP and Clause 2, Article 169 of the Labor Code 2019.

Additionally, according to Decree 71/2020/ND-CP, the determination and organization of the timeline for advanced training for teachers must align with the actual conditions of the teaching workforce and the conditions of educational institutions and localities; ensuring that there is no shortage of teaching staff. Priority should be given to arranging those teachers who have a minimum number of working years left until retirement to participate in training first.
