Recently, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Circular 15/2014/TT-BGDDT on the Regulation of Master’s Degree Training.
Circular 15: Requirements for Master's Thesis Training (illustrative image)
The Master's Degree Training Regulations issued together with Circular 15/2014/TT-BGDDT stipulate the requirements for master’s thesis training as follows:
1. Thesis Topic
- The thesis topic is announced by the head of the specialized unit or proposed by the student, with an accompanying research outline, approved by the supervisor and the head of the specialized unit;- The head of the training institution decides to assign the topic to the student and appoints a supervisor at least 6 months before the thesis defense, based on the proposal of the head of the specialized unit and the head of the graduate training management unit;- The change of topic before the thesis defense is decided by the head of the training institution, based on the student's request, approved by the supervisor and the head of the specialized unit. Changes in the topic in other cases shall be regulated by the head of the training institution.
2. Requirements for the Thesis:
- The thesis of the research-oriented program is a scientific report with new contributions in theoretical, academic aspects or new results in researching a current scientific issue in the training discipline;- The thesis of the application-oriented program is a specialized report on research results addressing a real-life problem or a report on the organization and implementation of adopting a theoretical research, new model, etc., in the specialized field;- The thesis must have scientific value, practical value, cultural and ethical value, and must conform to Vietnamese customs and traditions;- The thesis must comply with the current intellectual property laws. The use or citation of research results of others or co-authors must be fully and clearly sourced at the citation location and in the reference list. The research results in the thesis must be the author's own work and have not been published by others in any research work;- The thesis must be presented scientifically, clearly, coherently, crisply, and without any erasures.
Additionally, the head of the training institution specifies the presentation format of the thesis according to the requirements of each field, training discipline, and other related issues.
