Cleaning Tools in the Processing of Traditional Medicines

Circular 30/2017/TT-BYT was issued by the Ministry of Health on July 17, 2017, to specifically regulate cleaning tools in the preparation of traditional medicines.

Accordingly, Circular 30 stipulates cleaning tools including:

- Brushes (hair, bamboo, copper) to brush off dirt, sand, dust...;- Sieves, winnows, flat baskets, round baskets, baskets to remove impurities, classify, and select more homogeneous and pure medicinal materials;- Tools for peeling and rubbing;- Ventilation and dust extraction fans.

Additionally, Circular 30 also stipulates washing and fermenting tools including:

- Basins, tubs, tanks;- Herbal washing machines: applied to medicinal herbs with solid structures, many dirty crevices, difficult to clean, usually medicinal herbs that have usable parts such as rhizomes, roots, bark, fruit...- Note that types with tubular structures, sieve surfaces, and those sprayed by strong water jets can be used, or types of washing tanks with 2-layer structures with clean water supplied directly, which can operate statically or installed with a motor to create light vibration, and can be tilted conveniently for putting in and taking out the herbs. These machines can be used to wash delicate medicinal herbs.
