Content of below article is the holiday schedule for April 30 and May 1, 2025, for officials and public employees and employees of administrative agencies, public service organizations, political organizations, and socio-political organizations in Vietnam.

According to Notice 6150/TB-BLDTBXH of 2024, officials and public employees, and employees in administrative, non-business agencies, political organizations, and socio-political organizations will swap their working day from Friday, May 02, 2025, to Saturday, April 26, 2025. Thus, during the Victory Day holiday on April 30 and International Labor Day on May 01, 2025, officials and public employees are granted continuous 5-day leave from Wednesday, April 30, 2025, to end of Sunday, May 04, 2025 (with substitute work on Saturday, April 26, 2025).
Agencies and units implementing the Tet holiday, National Day holiday, Victory Day holiday on April 30, and International Labor Day on May 01, 2025, should note: arrange departments on duty according to the regulations and ensure reasonable work management to solve ongoing tasks and ensure good service to organizations and the public. Paying attention should be given to appointing officials on duty to deal with any unexpected or sudden tasks that may arise during the Tet and holiday period as per regulations.
For employees who are not classified as officials and public employees or employees of administrative, non-business agencies, political organizations, socio-political organizations, employers decide on the method for taking leave on Victory Day, April 30, and International Labor Day, May 01, 2025:
- If the weekly day off coincides with the holiday or Tet day stipulated in Clause 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code 2019, employees are entitled to compensatory leave from weekly days off on the next working day in accordance with Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code 2019.
- Employers are encouraged to apply the same holiday schedule for the Tet holiday, National Day holiday, Victory Day holiday on April 30, and International Labor Day on May 01, 2025, as is applicable to officials and public employees, for their employees.
The tasks that officials are prohibited from undertaking are outlined in Articles 18, 19, and 20 of the Law on Officials 2008 as follows:
- Tasks officials are prohibited from undertaking related to public service ethics:
+ Evading responsibility, neglecting assigned duties, fostering factions, causing disunity, abandoning work or participating in strikes.
+ Illegally using state and people's assets.
+ Exploiting, abusing tasks and powers; using information related to public service for personal gain.
+ Discriminating on the basis of ethnicity, gender, social class, beliefs, or religions in any form.
- Tasks officials are prohibited from undertaking related to state secrets:
+ Officials are not allowed to disclose information related to state secrets in any form.
+ Officials working in sectors or professions related to state secrets, within a period of at least 05 years from the date of retirement or resignation, are prohibited from engaging in any related work for domestic or foreign organizations or individuals, or joint ventures with foreign entities.
+ The Government of Vietnam specifies the list of sectors, professions, job positions, duration that officials are prohibited from undertaking, and the policies applied to those affected as prescribed in Article 19 of the Law on Officials 2008.
- Other tasks officials are prohibited from undertaking:
Apart from the tasks prohibited as stipulated in Articles 18 and 19 of the Law on Officials 2008, officials are also prohibited from engaging in activities related to production, business, personnel work as specified in the Anti-Corruption Law 2018, Law on Thrift Practice and Waste Prevention 2013 and other tasks as prescribed by law and by competent authorities.
