Categorization of Inland Waterways for Management According to Circular 64/2014/TT-BGTVT (Illustrative Image)
The categorization of inland waterways for management is regulated as follows:
- The standards and scoring system to categorize inland waterways for management are specifically as follows:
- Principles for applying the categorization of inland waterways for management:
The standards and scoring system for categorization specified at this point only apply to rivers and canals under the management and exploitation of transportation announced by competent state agencies. The categorization of inland waterways for management is based on the categorization for each separate river or canal (or section of a river or canal) but must ensure continuity across the management routes. If some sections of a river or canal (not exceeding 20% of the total route length) have a lower grade than the grade of the entire route, it is permissible to upgrade the grade to match the whole route.
- Scoring system for categorizing inland waterways for management:
+ If a river or canal meets the categorization standards scoring 85 points or above, it is categorized as a level 1 managed inland waterway.+ If a river or canal meets the categorization standards scoring from 65 points to 84 points, it is categorized as a level 2 managed inland waterway.+ If a river or canal meets the categorization standards scoring 64 points or below, it is categorized as a level 3 managed inland waterway.
The detailed categorization table is specified in the Appendix of Circular 64/2014/TT-BGTVT.
More details can be found in Circular 64/2014/TT-BGTVT, effective from January 1, 2015.
