Recently, the National Assembly of Vietnam has officially approved the Resolution No. 130/2020/QH14 on participation in the United Nations peacekeeping force.
According to the Resolution No. 130/2020/QH14 of the National Assembly of Vietnam, principles of participation in the United Nations peacekeeping force include:
- Placed under the absolute, direct leadership in all aspects of the Communist Party of Vietnam; decisions of the National Defense and Security Council; the dominance of the President and the state management of the Government;
- Comply with the Constitution and laws of Vietnam; consistent with the Charter of the United Nations, international law, international treaties to which the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is a signatory;
- Ensure independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development; suitable to the national interests, ethnic groups, conditions and capabilities of Vietnam; respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations;
- Only participate in activities to assist in overcoming the consequences of war, maintaining peace after conflicts, for humanitarian purposes at the request of the United Nations;
- Deploy only in countries and regions that have been established by the United Nations and at United Nations’ agencies.
