Immediate disbursement for supported and mobilized resources to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Vietnam

The Prime Minister of Vietnam stated that providing housing for the people, especially those who have contributed to the revolution, poor households, and families affected by natural disasters, has always been a focus of attention by the Vietnam Communist Party and the State, identified as a central task of social welfare and sustainable poverty alleviation.

To successfully achieve the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated housing nationwide by 2025, the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam requests ministries, People's Committees of provinces, centrally-affiliated cities, and central agencies to carry out their assigned tasks and duties to continue vigorously implementing the elimination of temporary and dilapidated housing across the nation.

In this context, for the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-affiliated cities, the Prime Minister of Vietnam has mandated as follows:

- Urgently establish and direct the formation of Steering Committees for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated housing in localities (provincial, district, and commune levels). These committees are to be headed by the Secretary of the Party Committee, with the Chairman of the People's Committee and the Chairperson of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at the respective levels serving as Standing Deputy Heads of the Steering Committee. Members of the Steering Committee include the heads of provincial departments and authorities, related agencies; the Department of Labor - War Invalids and Social Affairs acts as the permanent agency; the deadline for completion is November 2024.

- Focus on effectively organizing the Emulation Movement "Joining Hands to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Housing Nationwide by 2025", strengthen communication efforts to create social consensus, especially in mobilizing financial resources and manpower to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated housing in the area.

- Urgently develop a specific plan, focus on directing the immediate organization of disbursement for the supported and mobilized resources to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing in the area; actively coordinate and work with investors who have committed to support implementation (according to the list provided by the Ministry of Labor - War Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam, the permanent agency of the Central Steering Committee for localities); ensure promptness, effectiveness, and alignment with the intended purpose, preventing waste, loss, or misconduct; strictly handle any violations.
