The Prime Minister's approval of the National Environmental Monitoring Master Plan in Vietnam

Specifically, the overall objective of the National Environmental Monitoring Master Plan for the period 2021–2030, with a vision towards 2050, is to build a comprehensive, advanced, and modern national environmental monitoring system that can monitor crucial inter-regional, inter-provincial, cross-border areas, areas with high concentrations of pollutants, and implement biodiversity monitoring in natural conservation areas, biodiversity corridors, and high biodiversity areas.

Enhance connectivity with provincial-level environmental monitoring systems; ensure monitoring of environmental quality trends; meet the requirements for providing, disclosing, and publicizing environmental monitoring information and data, and enhance capacity for environmental warning and forecasting.

In particular, the vision for 2050 includes increased investment and expansion of automated and continuous air and water quality monitoring stations, the application of new monitoring technologies aimed at gradually replacing periodic air and surface water quality monitoring points with automated and continuous air and water quality monitoring stations.

Implement biodiversity monitoring in biodiversity corridors and establish high biodiversity areas.

Research and apply modern technologies and information processing models that utilize artificial intelligence and comprehensively deploy digital transformation models in managing and analyzing environmental monitoring data to support environmental quality forecasting activities.

Enhance socialization in the implementation of the master plan, establish priority mechanisms, and encourage organizations and individuals to invest in automated and continuous environmental quality monitoring stations and participate in periodic environmental monitoring programs to leverage the resources and infrastructure of non-state entities.
