Guidance on Payment of COVID-19 Testing Costs for Individuals with Health Insurance Cards

On July 30, 2020, the Ministry of Health issued Official Dispatch 4068/BYT-KHTC on the payment of health insurance for the cost of COVID-19 testing.

Vietnam Social Security has issued Official Dispatch 2418/BHXH-CSYT directing the Social Security of provinces and cities to pay for COVID-19 testing costs as follows:

- To pay for COVID-19 testing costs for people with health insurance cards in the following cases:

- Patients who must undergo medical isolation measures, compulsory medical isolation, and COVID-19 infected patients who are receiving medical examination and treatment at medical facilities.- Cases where medical facilities have prescribed testing according to the Ministry of Health's guidelines on the diagnosis and treatment of acute respiratory disease caused by nCoV.

- Regarding pricing: apply the rates stipulated in the appendix issued in conjunction with Circular 13/2019/TT-BYT as follows:

- Service number 1735: Bacteria/virus/fungi/parasite testing by Real-time PCR (734,000 VND/sample) for cases of testing by Real-time PCR method- Service number 1736: Bacteria/virus/fungi/parasite testing rapid test (238,000 VND/sample) for cases of rapid testing.
