New Official Dispatch: Guidance on Payment for COVID-19 Testing Costs

In accordance with the direction of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control regarding the enhancement of capabilities and the implementation of COVID-19 testing, the Ministry of Health requests that Vietnam Social Security direct the provincial and municipal Social Security agencies to temporarily pay for COVID-19 testing as follows:

Payment for COVID-19 testing costs for individuals with health insurance cards in the following cases:

- Patients who must undergo medical isolation measures, compulsory medical isolation, and COVID-19 patients currently undergoing treatment at medical facilities;- Cases where medical facilities designate testing according to the Ministry of Health's guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of acute respiratory infections caused by nCoV.

Regarding pricing: Apply the pricing outlined in the appendix issued with Circular 13/2019/TT-BYT, which stipulates the uniform pricing for medical examination services covered by health insurance across hospitals of the same grade nationwide, and instructions for applying prices and paying for medical examination and treatment in certain cases:

- Service number 1735: Testing for bacteria, virus, fungi, parasites using Real-time PCR (734,000 VND per test sample) for cases requiring testing by Real-time PCR method;- Service number 1736: Testing for bacteria, virus, fungi, parasites using rapid test (238,000 VND per test sample) for cases using rapid test.
