URGENT: Students in Ho Chi Minh City will stop going to school from February 2, 2021

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued Official Dispatch 324/UBND-VX on allowing students of the City to suspend from going to school to ensure the prevention of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Based on Directive 79/CT-BGDDT dated January 28, 2021 of the Ministry of Education and Training on a number of urgent measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic in education and training institutions; Considering the proposal of the Director of the Department of Education and Training of Vietnam in Report 302/TTrGDDT-VP dated February 1, 2021, the City People's Committee directed as follows:

1. Allow students, students, and trainees of educational and vocational education institutions in the city to stop going to school from February 2, 2021, to make the transition to the form of teaching and learning online, ensuring the time plan for the 2020–2021 school year as prescribed.

2. Officials, teachers, and staff of schools continue to perform their duties according to the City's school year plan; quickly switch to teaching and learning on the internet; and ensure on-call schedule, ensuring information throughout before, during, and after the Lunar New Year of the Ox 2021.

Note: According to the school year plan approved by the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, students will have a Tet holiday starting from February 8, 2021 (December 27 of the lunar calendar) to the end of February 16, 2021 (May 5). lunar January). However, due to the complicated situation of the COVID-19 epidemic, up to now, many provinces and cities (including Ho Chi Minh City) have decided to let students leave school 1 week in advance. with previous notice.

Previously, in order to ensure safety, effectively control and prevent the outbreak of epidemics in educational and training institutions, on January 28, 2021, at Directive 79/CT-BGDDT, the Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam have requested the Departments of Education and Training of Vietnam, higher education institutions, pedagogical colleges and intermediate pedagogy based on the local epidemic situation, the Department of Education and Training of Vietnam to coordinate with relevant units to advise the Presidents of the People's Committees of the provinces and cities to decide on the absence of preschool children, high school students and students in continuing education institutions. Principals of higher education institutions, pedagogical colleges, and intermediate pedagogical colleges shall consider and decide to suspend students and conduct online teaching and learning.
