Things Teachers Absolutely Must Not Do in Teaching (Illustrative Image)
According to the provisions of Article 6 of the Code of Ethics for Teachers issued together with Decision 16/2008/QD-BGDDT, teachers are absolutely prohibited from doing the following:
Not to abuse positions and powers to perform unlawful acts, regulations, or rules; not to cause difficulties and troubles to learners and the public.
Not to be dishonest or fraudulent in studying, scientific research, and in performing teaching and educational duties.
Not to bully, oppress, and show favoritism, discrimination, or prejudice towards learners; not to assist or cover up negative behaviors in teaching, learning, and training of learners and colleagues.
Not to infringe upon the physical integrity, honor, and dignity of learners, colleagues, and others. Not to affect the work and activities of colleagues and others.
Not to organize extra coaching or tutoring against regulations.
Not to smoke, drink alcohol, or beer in workplaces, schools, and places where it is not permitted or while performing teaching duties and participating in school educational activities.
Not to use mobile phones and engage in private work during meetings, classes, study sessions, examinations, and marking.
Not to cause factionalism or localism, disrupting the unity in the collective and community activities.
Not to use the lectern as a platform to propagate or disseminate content contrary to the viewpoints and policies of the Communist Party and the State.
Not to evade responsibility, refuse tasks, arbitrarily leave work; not to be late, leave early, miss classes, cut or squeeze the program, violating professional regulations that affect the discipline and order of the school.
Not to organize or participate in activities related to social vices such as gambling, prostitution, drugs, superstition; not to use, store, or propagate pornographic and harmful cultural products.
Additionally, according to the provisions of the Education Law 2019 recently passed by the National Assembly on June 14, 2019, and effective from July 1, 2020, the prohibited acts in educational institutions include:
- Offending the dignity and honor, infringing upon the body of teachers, staff, workers, and learners of educational institutions.
- Distorting educational content.
- Fraud in studying, testing, examination, and enrollment.
- Smoking; drinking alcohol, beer; causing public disorder.
- Forcing students to take extra lessons for money.
- Exploiting sponsorships and donations to coerce monetary or material contributions.
For cases where teachers violate these provisions, depending on the severity and relevant legal regulations, the teachers or lecturers may be temporarily suspended from teaching, assigned to other tasks pending processing, or considered for personnel reduction, termination of employment contract/labor contract.
