Vietnam: Periods not covered by allowance when performing arts in the Vietnam People's Army

Recently, the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam issued Circular 167/2008/TT-BQP guiding the implementation of job-based preferential allowance and remuneration policies for laborers performing arts in the Vietnam People's Army.

Circular 167/2008/TT-BQP stipulates the periods not covered by allowance when performing arts in the Vietnam People's Army as follows:

- The period of working or traveling abroad with 40% salary as stipulated in Clause 4, Article 8 of Decree 204/2004/ND-CP dated December 14, 2004, of the Government of Vietnam regarding salary policies for officials and public employees and the armed forces;

- The period of working or studying in the country without directly engaging in art performance for more than 3 consecutive months;

- The period of taking personal leave without pay for 1 consecutive month or more;

- The period of sick leave or maternity leave exceeding the duration prescribed by the Social Insurance Law;

- The period of suspension from work;

- The period of not directly engaging in art performance but undertaking other work for 1 month or more.
