Vietnam: Assurance of database security of weapons and explosives

On May 15, 2018, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam issued Circular No. 16/2018/TT-BCA elaborating some articles of the Law on Management and Use of Weapons, Explosives and Combat Gears, of which a featured content is the regulation on assurance of database security of weapons and explosives.

Specifically, according to Circular No. 16/2018/TT-BCA of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, to ensure security and safety of the database on weapons and explosives, the following activities should be carried out:

- Use encrypted channels and user authentication for:

+ System administrator login;

+ Applications login;

+ Database manipulation.

- Encrypt and secure transmission line and information within the database;

- Adopt measures for ensuring the accuracy and security of data contained in the database.

- Log the creation, change or deletion of information and data to serve system management and supervision.

- Establish and maintain a backup system and back up data to ensure stable and continuous operation upon occurrence of any disasters, fires and other incidents.
