The timing of childbirth significantly affects the rights and benefits of parents; therefore, everyone should consider this carefully to ensure they receive the maximum benefits.
According to Article 38 of the Social Insurance Law 2014, female employees who give birth or female employees who adopt a child under 06 months of age are entitled to a one-time allowance for each child equivalent to 02 times the statutory pay rate at the time of childbirth or the month the employee adopts the child.
In the case of childbirth where only the father participates in social insurance, the father is entitled to a one-time allowance equivalent to 02 times the statutory pay rate in the month of childbirth for each child.
Currently, the statutory pay rate is 1.39 million VND. However, pursuant to Resolution 70/2018/QH14, the statutory pay rate will be increased to 1.49 million VND starting from July 1, 2019, and hence the one-time allowance for childbirth will also be correspondingly increased.
Thus, in the case of childbirth from July 1, 2018, to before July 1, 2019, the one-time childbirth allowance is 2.78 million VND. If the childbirth occurs from July 1, 2019, onwards, the allowance will be 2.98 million VND.
