- The city-level contest for excellent 9th-grade students in Ho Chi Minh City for the school year 2024-2025 will take place on March 14, 2025.

- The city-level contest for excellent 12th-grade students in Ho Chi Minh City for the school year 2024-2025 will take place on February 25, 2025.

* Grade 9

The contest site at Nguyen Van To Secondary School (140 Tam Dao Street, Ward 14, District 10) will host contests for Foreign Languages (English, French, Chinese, Japanese).

The contest site at Marie Curie High School (159 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, Vo Thi Sau Ward, District 3) will host contests for Literature and Natural Sciences.

The contest site at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School (53 Nguyen Du Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1) will host contests for Mathematics, History, and Geography.

The contest site at Le Hong Phong Specialized High School (235 Nguyen Van Cu Street, Ward 4, District 5) will host the Informatics contest.

The contest site at Ha Huy Tap Secondary School, Binh Thanh District (07 Phan Dang Luu Street, Ward 3, Binh Thanh District) will host contests for Technology subjects.

According to Article 28 of the Education Law 2019, the regulations are as follows:

Levels and Ages of General Education

1. The levels and ages for general education are as follows:

a) Primary education is conducted over 5 school years, from grade one to the end of grade five. The age for entering grade one is 6 years old and is calculated annually;

b) Lower secondary education is conducted over 4 school years, from grade six to the end of grade nine. Students entering grade six must complete the primary education program. The age for entering grade six is 11 years old and is calculated annually;

c) Upper secondary education is conducted over 3 school years, from grade ten to the end of grade twelve. Students entering grade ten must have a lower secondary graduation certificate. The age for entering grade ten is 15 years old and is calculated annually.

2. Students who study ahead of their class or study at an age older than the age specified in clause 1 of this Article include:

a) Students who study ahead of their class due to early intellectual development;

b) Students who study at an older age than specified in cases of grade repetition, students in areas with especially difficult socio-economic conditions, ethnic minority students, students with disabilities, students with physical or intellectual underdevelopment, orphaned students without shelter, students from poor households, returning overseas students, and other cases as prescribed by law.

3. General education is divided into basic education and vocational education orientation stages. The basic education stage includes primary and lower secondary levels; the vocational education orientation stage is upper secondary level. Students in vocational education institutions also study an amount of upper secondary general education knowledge.

4. The Minister of Education and Training stipulates the teaching and learning of Vietnamese for children of ethnic minorities before entering grade one; the teaching of upper secondary general education knowledge in vocational education institutions; and the cases stipulated in clause 2 of this Article.
