2. The working time of lower secondary and upper upper secondary school teachers in the school year is 42 weeks, in which:

a) 37 weeks are dedicated to teaching and educational activities according to the school year plan.

b) 03 weeks are allocated for studying and professional development.

c) 01 week is for preparation for the new school year.

d) 01 week is for the school year summary.

2a. The working time of teachers at preparatory schools is 42 weeks, in which:

a) 28 weeks are dedicated to teaching and educational activities according to the school year plan;

b) 12 weeks are allocated for studying and professional development, preparing documents, scientific research, and other activities according to the school year plan;

c) 01 week is for preparation for the new school year;

d) 01 week is for the school year summary.

What is the teaching workload for upper secondary school teachers in Vietnam per week?

Teaching Workload

The teaching workload is the number of theoretical or practical hours each teacher must teach in a week. Specifically:

1. The teaching workload for primary school teachers is 23 hours, for lower upper secondary school teachers is 19 hours, and for upper upper secondary school teachers is 17 hours;

2. The teaching workload for teachers at ethnic boarding schools is 17 hours at the lower secondary level, 15 hours at the upper secondary level;

The teaching workload for teachers at semi-boarding ethnic schools is 21 hours at the primary level, 17 hours at the lower secondary level;

The teaching workload for teachers at schools or classes for disabled or handicapped students is 21 hours for primary level teachers, 17 hours for lower secondary level teachers.

2a. The teaching workload for teachers at preparatory schools is 12 hours;

  1. Teachers serving as the principal Pioneer Youth Organization officer at type I schools teach 2 hours a week, at type II schools teach 1/3 of the teaching workload, and at type III schools teach 1/2 of the teaching workload of teachers at the same level of education. The classification of general schools is according to current regulations.

Public general school teachers with the highest teaching workload are primary school teachers, specifically 23 hours.

1. Homeroom teachers in primary schools are reduced by 3 hours/week, in lower and upper upper secondary schools are reduced by 4 hours/week.

  1. Homeroom teachers in ethnic boarding lower and upper upper secondary schools are reduced by 4 hours/week. Homeroom teachers in specialized schools and semi-boarding schools are reduced by 4 hours/week. Homeroom teachers in schools/classes for disabled or handicapped students are reduced by 3 hours/week.

2a. Homeroom teachers in preparatory schools are reduced by 3 hours/week.

  1. Teachers in charge of subject classrooms are reduced by 3 hours/subject/week.
  1. Teachers in charge of school-wide activities such as music, physical education, school gardens, workshops, equipment rooms, libraries (if these tasks do not have specialized staff) are reduced by 2 - 3 hours/week depending on the workload and as decided by the principal.
  1. Subject group leaders are reduced by 3 hours/week.

5a. Deputy subject leaders are reduced by 1 hour/week.

5b. Teachers in charge of functional rooms in preparatory schools are reduced by 3 hours/week;

Teachers who are deputy heads of functional rooms in preparatory schools are reduced by 1 hour/week.

Thus, homeroom teachers in upper secondary schools are reduced by 4 hours per week.
