What are regulations on the contents of local education in Vietnam?
Based on Sub-Section 14, Section 5 of the General Education Program issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the local education content is regulated as follows:
The content of local education addresses basic or timely issues regarding culture, history, geography, economy, society, environment, career orientation, etc., of the locality, supplementing the mandatory unified content nationwide. It aims to equip students with knowledge of their place of residence, fostering their love for their homeland, awareness, and application of learned knowledge to contribute to solving local issues.
At the primary level, the local education content is integrated with experiential activities.
At the lower secondary and upper secondary levels, the local education content is equivalent to other subjects.
Based on the general education program, the People's Committees of provinces and centrally governed cities regulate standards, processes for compiling, appraising, and editing materials on local education content;
Direct the organization of compiling and appraising materials on local education content according to the guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training and report to the Ministry for approval.
What is the age of grade 8 students in Vietnam?
Based on Clause 1, Article 33 of the Charter for lower secondary schools, upper secondary schools, and multi-level schools issued with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT:

- The age of students entering 6th grade is 11. The age of students entering 10th grade is 15. For students who skip grades in the previous level or enter school older than the stipulated age, the age for 6th and 10th grade will be adjusted based on the graduation age of the previous level.
