Work in Extremely Difficult Areas Entitled to Allowance Equivalent to 10 Months of Statutory Pay Rate

the Government of Vietnam has just issued Decree 76/2019/ND-CP on policies for officials and public employees, laborers, and salary recipients in the armed forces working in areas with extremely difficult socio-economic conditions.

Decree 76/2019/ND-CP stipulates that subjects under Article 2 of this Decree are entitled to an initial allowance of 10 months of statutory pay rate at the time of commencing their work. The current statutory pay rate is 1.49 million VND, equivalent to an allowance of 14.9 million VND.

Additionally, if there is a family accompanying the individual to work in areas with exceptionally difficult socio-economic conditions, aside from the initial allowance, they are entitled to:

- Transportation expenses and luggage fees for family members traveling together, calculated based on the actual ticket price and transportation fees of public transport or reimbursed according to a flat rate based on the actual kilometers traveled multiplied by the usual public transport rates (train, boat, passenger car);- An allowance equivalent to 12 months of statutory pay rate for the family.

The aforementioned allowances will be paid immediately when the beneficiary arrives to assume their position and will be provided as a one-time payment for the total duration of work in areas with exceptionally difficult socio-economic conditions.
