Vietnam: Striving for the number of people participating in social insurance to reach the rate of 45% compared to the labor force in age by 2025

Recently, Vietnam Social Security has issued the Decision No. 1320/QĐ-BHXH in 2020 on the program to implement the 5-year socio-economic development plan 2021-2025 of the Social Insurance sector.

Vietnam Social Security develops the program to implement the five-year socio-economic development plan 2021-2025 of the social insurance sector with the specific goal of continuing to promote the development of participants in social insurance, unemployment insurance and health insurance to fulfill the objectives set out in Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW dated October 25, 2017 on enhancement of citizens’ health protection, improvement, and care in new situation, Resolution No. 28-NQ/TW dated May 23, 2018 on social insurance policy reform and Resolution No. 125/NQ-CP dated October 08, 2018 on the action program of the government for implementation of Resolution 28. Specific goals by 2025 are as follows:

- Striving for the number of people participating in social insurance to reach the rate of 45% compared to the labor force in age;

- Striving for the number of people participating in unemployment insurance to reach the rate of 35% compared to the labor force in age;

- Striving for the number of people participating in health insurance to reach 95% of the population participating in health insurance.
