Vietnam: Procedures for reissuance of certification of genetically modified organisms’ eligibility for use as food

Recently, the Government of Vietnam has issued Decree No. 118/2020/NĐ-CP on amendments to Decree No. 69/2010/NĐ-CP dated June 21, 2020 of Vietnam’s Government on biosafety for genetically modified organisms, genetic specimens and products of genetically modified organisms.

According to Decree No. 118/2020/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government, procedures for reissuance of certification of genetically modified organisms’ eligibility for use as food are amended as follows:

- Conditions for reissuance of certification:

+ Changes to information of the organizations under issued certification;

+ Lost, damaged or worn-out certification.

- Application for reissuance consists of:

+ Written application using Form No. 11 under Annex attached to this Decree;

+ Certification of genetically modified organisms’ eligibility for use as food previously issued in case of changes to information on the organizations or damaged or worn-out permit;

+ Documents proving changes to information of the organizations under issued certification.

- Applicants shall submit 1 application for reissuance to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in person, via postal service or via the internet.
