Vietnam: New form of health insurance card used uniformly throughout the country

On December 03, 2020, Vietnam Social Security issued the Decision No. 1666/QĐ-BHXH on the issuance of the health insurance card form.

The Decision No. 1666/QĐ-BHXH of Vietnam Social Security issues the form of health insurance card for uniform use throughout the country. Specifically, the health insurance card blanks have the dimensions, materials and forms as follows:

- Dimensions: length 85.60 mm, width 53.98 mm, according to the outer edge of the card;

- Material: using 180g/m2 quantitative white paper, ensuring durability and gloss;

- Form: white background, in the middle is blurred the logo of the Vietnam Social Security symbol in cobalt blue with circles around spreading, color decreasing, the distance from the center of the Vietnam Social Insurance symbol to the outermost circle is 14 mm; the outside has a border that changes color to cobalt blue.

Note: Health insurance card blanks printed as prescribed in Decision No. 1313/QĐ-BHXH dated December 02, 2014 that have not been used used up until the effective date of Decision No. 1666/QĐ-BHXH, may continue to be used and granted to the beneficiaries of health insurance.

While waiting for the replacement of the health insurance card according to the provisions of Decision No. 1666/QĐ-BHXH, the health insurance cards already issued to the participants of health insurance with expiry date shall continue to be used for medical examination and treatment covered by health insurance.
