Vietnam: Near-poor students from military schools are supported to pay health insurance

Recently, the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam has issued the Circular No. 143/2020/TT-BQP guiding the implementation of the Decree No. 146/2018/NĐ-CP for subjects under the management of the Ministry of National Defense.

Defense - security trainees; international military students studying at academies, schools and training institutions in the National Defense are supported with 100% of the health insurance premium payment according to Resolution No. 30a/2008/NQ-CP dated December 27, 2008 of Vietnam’s Government on the support program for fast and sustainable poverty reduction in 61 poor districts and districts that are applied mechanisms and policies according to Resolution No. 30a/2008/NQ-CP.

Support at least 70% of the health insurance premium for pupils and students from near-poor family households  and multidimensional-poverty family households as prescribed in Clauses 1 and 2 Article 4 of Decree No. 146/2018/NĐ-CP. In addition, support at least 30% of the health insurance premium for other students. The rest of the fee is paid by the students themselves.

In case students belonging to many subjects that are supported by the state budget with the above payment level, they will be entitled to the health insurance payment support level according to the subject with the highest support level.
