Vietnam: Eligibility requirements for consideration for rank promotion to the professional title of senior lecturer from June 01, 2024

On March 29, 2024, the Minister of Education and Training in Vietnam issued Circular 05/2024/TT-BGDDT stipulating standards and conditions for consideration for rank promotion to the professional titles of public employees teaching at public higher education institutions and pedagogical colleges.

Eligibility requirements for consideration for rank promotion to the professional title of senior lecturer from June 01, 2024 in Vietnam

Lecturers of public higher education institutions may apply for consideration for rank promotion to the professional title of senior lecturer (Grade I), code V.07.01.01 if they meet the following standards and conditions:

- Having a demand and an available position for promotion within the public higher education institution, and the competent authority approves the candidate's participation in the consideration for rank promotion

- Currently holding the professional title of principal lecturer (Grade II), code V.07.01.02.

- Being graded as successful completion of tasks or above in the year immediately preceding the year of the consideration for rank promotion, having good political qualities and professional ethics, not being under any disciplinary action, and not being currently subject to any disciplinary regulations under the rules of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the law.

- Meeting the minimum working period required for holding the professional title of principal lecturer (Grade II), code V.07.01.02; satisfying the standards of training, fostering, professional qualifications, and capacities of the professional title of senior lecturer (Grade I), code V.07.01.01, as stipulated in Clauses 2 and 3, Article 7 of Circular 40/2020/TT-BGDDT and amended, supplemented in Circular 04/2022/TT-BGDDT.

Circular 31/2021/TT-BGDDT which stipulates the standards, conditions, content, form, and determination of successful candidates in the consideration for rank promotion to the professional titles of public employees teaching at public higher education institutions and pedagogical colleges shall expire once Circular 05/2024/TT-BGDDT takes effect.
