Vietnam: Adjustment on the timeline for approval of 04 Law projects

On February 9, 2023, the Government of Vietnam issued Resolution 16/NQ-CP thematic session on legislation in January 2023.

According to Vietnam's Resolution 16/NQ-CP, the Government agreed to adjust the time for submission of a number of Law projects as follows:

- For the amended Notarization Law, the Geology and Minerals Law, and the Law on Urban and Rural Planning:

Putting the above 03 Law projects into the 2024 Program, submit them to the National Assembly of Vietnam for comments at the 7th Session (May 2024), and approve them at the 8th Session (October 2024) to ensure resources for implementation, quality assurance, and construction progress of law projects, and to balance the Program in 2023 and the Program in 2024.

- For the amended Law on Population: Include it in the 2024 program, send it to the National Assembly of Vietnam for comments at the 8th session (October 2024), and pass it at the 9th session (May 2025) to ensure that the 2024 and 2025 programs overlap.

In addition, the Government of Vietnam basically approved the Government's proposal on the 2024 Law and Ordinance Development Program; Adjusting the Program on Law and Ordinance Development in 2023, compiled by the Ministry of Justice and submitted to the Government in Report No. 02/TTr-BTP dated January 18, 2023.
