On November 23, 2022, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam issued Decision 3159/QD-BYT on the approval of the document "Basic Competency Standards of Doctors of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine".
According to Vietnam's Decision 3159/QD-BYT, the basic competency framework of Vietnamese traditional medicine doctors includes 5 areas, 27 standards, and 106 criteria, specifically:
- Competence in professional and ethical practice.
- Ability to apply basic knowledge of traditional medicine combined with modern medicine.
- Ability to take care of traditional medicine combined with modern medicine.
- Communication and collaboration abilities
- Health organization and management capacity.
In addition, the development and promulgation of basic competency standards for traditional medicine doctors are of significance and importance to society in Vietnam as follows:
- Meeting the needs of medical examination and treatment for the people as well as the needs of the employers of traditional medicine doctors
- Increasin the supervision of people, patients, and the community on the implementation of the school's societal commitments in terms of training quality.
- Limiting and overcoming the situation of providing poor-quality medical services or making errors due to a lack of professional capacity.
