On September 25, 2017, the Ministry of Health issued Circular 37/2017/TT-BYT on regulations for ensuring biological safety practices in laboratories.

The working area in Biosafety Level 1 laboratories must meet the following conditions:

- The laboratory area must ensure lighting according to regulations in Circular 22/2016/TT-BYT.- There must be clean water supplied for the laboratory area as prescribed in Circular 05/2009/TT-BYT.

Additionally, Biosafety Level 1 laboratories must also meet the conditions for the use of equipment as follows:

- Laboratory equipment must have sufficient information and labeling, management, usage, and calibration as prescribed in Decree 36/2016/ND-CP.- When installing and operating, equipment must meet the requirements and technical specifications of the manufacturer.- Laboratory equipment must not be used for other purposes.
