Recently, the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam has issued Decision 37/2018/QD-TTg stipulating standards, procedures for recognition of meeting standards, and appointment to the titles of professor, associate professor; procedures for consideration of annulment of recognition and dismissal of the titles of professor, associate professor.

General Criteria for Appointment to the Titles of Professor and Associate Professor:

- Does not violate the ethics of educators, is not under any disciplinary action from reprimand or higher, nor serving any criminal sentences; demonstrates honesty and objectivity in training, scientific research, and other professional activities, and has experience in conducting training at university level or higher;- Completes assigned tasks and fulfills the standard teaching hours as stipulated by the Minister of Education and Training;- Proficient in foreign languages for professional work and able to communicate in English;- Meets the minimum converted scientific project point requirements according to regulations for each title.
