Standards for Antiquities Appraisal Experts

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism issued Circular 02/2017/TT-BVHTTDL stipulating the standards for artifact appraisal experts.

experts in the assessment of antiquities must meet the following conditions and standards:

- Possess full civil act capacity and not be under criminal investigation;- Hold a university degree or higher in fields related to cultural heritage, history, fine arts, Han Nom, ethnology, paleoanthropology, paleontology, or geology;- Have at least 5 years of direct involvement in archaeology, preservation, restoration of antiquities, or assessment of historical, cultural, and natural science materials and artifacts;- Have at least 3 scientific articles about antiquities published in specialized scientific journals or have participated in writing specialized books on antiquities that have been published;- Be a member of a social-professional organization related to their field of training and have at least 10 years of experience in collecting antiquities.

Circular 02/2017/TT-BVHTTDL takes effect from August 25, 2017.
