Proposal for Support of Educational Costs and Provision of Textbooks for Students in Remote and Isolated Areas in Vietnam

Below is a notable content in Official Dispatch 3281/BGDDT-KHTC sent to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally affiliated cities in Vietnam regarding the rectification of the implementation of initial school year fees for the 2020-2021 school year and ensuring the conditions for the implementation of the new general education program in Vietnam.

The Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam requests the People's Committees at all levels in Vietnam to provide support for educational costs and textbooks for policy-targeted students, students in remote areas, and students in difficult circumstances as stipulated in Clause 3, Article 11 of Decree 86/2015/ND-CP; Clause 1, Article 2 of Joint Circular 109/2009/TTLT/BTC-BGDDT dated May 29, 2009 by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education and Training; Clause 1, Article 2 of Decision 01/2003/QD-BGDDT dated January 02, 2003 by BGDDT and Official Dispatch 2689/BGDDT-GDTH dated July 22, 2020 requesting localities to actively provide textbooks for students in accordance with current regulations.

At the same time, based on the local budget capacity, there should be specific policies to support textbooks for shared libraries and students belonging to poor households, remote areas, mountainous regions, and islands according to the directives in Notification 251/TB-VPCP dated July 24, 2020 by the Government Office of Vietnam to ensure that all students have sufficient textbooks before the new school year 2020-2021.
