Practice driving time on road to increase from June 15,2022, Vietnam

The Minister of Transport of Vietnam issued Circular 04/2022/TT-BGTVT dated 22/4 /2022 amending Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT on driver training, driving tests and issuance of driving licenses for motor vehicles.

According to the Circular, the adjustments on the time of practicing driving on the training yard and on the road in Vietnam are as follows:

- For class B1 (Vehicles with automatic transmission in Vietnam):

+ Reduce the practice time on the training yard from 45 hours to 41 hours;

+ Increase the practice time on the road from 20 hours to 24 hours.

- For class B1 (Vehicles with manual transmission in Vietnam), class B2:

+ Reduce the practice time on the training yard from 45 hours to 41 hours;

+ Increased practice time on roads from 36 hours to 40 hours.

- For class C:

+ Reduce the practice time on the training yard from 46 hours to 43 hours;

+ Increase practice time on roads from 45 hours to 48 hours.

In addition, Circular 04/2022/TT-BGTVT also allows training institutions to extend the time of equipping and using the driving simulation cabin to train drivers in Vietnam until December 31, 2022. (Currently, it is stipulated that training institutions must equip and use driving simulation cabin to train drivers from July 1, 2022)
