National Strategy to protect, care for and improve people's health approved by the Prime Minister of Vietnam

On January 23, 2024, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Decision 89/QĐ-TTg on approving the National Strategy to protect, care for and improve people's health for the period to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

National Strategy to protect, care for and improve people's health approved by the Prime Minister of Vietnam

The overall goal of the Strategy is that all people can enjoy quality health care services, live in a safe community, and develop well physically and mentally, contributing to improving the quality of life and human resources for the purpose of building and protecting the Fatherland.

The strategy also sets out goals, tasks, and specific solutions, such as:

- Improving disease prevention and control capacity associated with grassroots health innovation;

- Improving the quality of medical examination, treatment, rehabilitation, and patient satisfaction;

- Population and development work;

- Developing medical human resources;

- Promoting research and application of science and technology;

- Development of the production and supply of drugs and medical equipment;

- Application of information technology and Digital Transformation;

- Innovating health finance and health insurance;

- Health development associated with ensuring national defense and security;

- Strengthening inter-sectoral coordination, improve the effectiveness of foreign affairs, integration, and communication to provide health information;

- Perfecting the institutional system, strengthen state management of health;

Strategy with an orientation to 2045: modern health system development, international integration, improvement of health service quality on par with advanced countries in the region, meeting the increasing and diverse health care needs of the people, and achieving universal health care coverage.
