Recently, the Ministry of Health issued Official Dispatch 495/BYT-MT regarding the guidance on managing medical waste and handling the remains of patients who died due to nCoV infection.
To proactively prevent and minimize the spread of diseases, ensuring the health of healthcare workers and the community, the Ministry of Health provides the following guidelines for handling medical waste in the care and treatment of individuals infected with nCoV:
- For waste such as respiratory secretions, bodily fluids, feces, and urine of individuals infected or suspected to be infected with nCoV, it must be treated with disinfectant chemicals;- For medical wastewater: Increase inspection and monitoring of the operation of the wastewater treatment system, especially ensuring the disinfection of medical wastewater before discharging it into the environment;- Disposal of used masks:
- In areas for monitoring, isolating, caring for, and treating individuals infected or suspected to be infected with nCoV: Users must dispose of masks in sealed infectious medical waste containers;- Single-use masks are recommended.
