Recently, the Government of Vietnam has issued Official Dispatch 10853/VPCP-V.I stipulating enhanced measures for the prevention and combat of smuggling, transportation, and trading of pigs and pork products of unknown origin.
The ministries, central authorities, and local authorities are tasked with directing their respective agencies and units according to their functions, duties, and authority in Vietnam:
- Strictly and effectively implement the measures to prevent and combat the infiltration of African swine fever into Vietnam as outlined in Official Telegram 1194/CD-TTg and Official Dispatch 16/BCD389-VPTT;
- Strengthen patrolling, inspecting, and controlling to promptly detect and handle acts of smuggling, trading pigs, and pig products of unknown origin;
- Regularly monitor and grasp information about African swine fever;
- Intensify the dissemination of information through the press about the directives of the Government of Vietnam and the programs and plans of the ministries, central authorities, and local authorities in the effort to prevent and combat the above-mentioned epidemics;
- Emphasize the responsibility of the heads of localities and strictly handle organizations and individuals that violate the directives.
