Recently, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Directive 17/CT-TTg on preventing and eventually ending the situation of Vietnamese fishing vessels violating regulations on illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing in foreign waters.
The Directive stipulates five principles for exchanging and handling information about Vietnamese fishing vessels violating regulations on fishing, including:
(1) To follow the Party's guidelines and lines, policies, and laws, in accordance with the functions and tasks of their units;
(2) To actively and regularly exchange information; ensure that information is complete, accurate, and timely;
(3) To promote solidarity and effective coordination among relevant organizations in Vietnam.
(4) To only use information and data exchanged between agencies for the providing agency's professional purposes.
(5) To discuss and settle cases arising in the process of coordination and information processing in accordance with the law in Vietnam.
Vietnam's Directive 17/CT-TTg was issued on June 24, 2021.
