Supreme People's Court of Vietnam reduces to 10 departments, divisions, and equivalent units in Vietnam from February 10, 2025

On February 10, 2025, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of Vietnam issued Resolution 69/2025/UBTVQH15 amending Clause 1, Article 1 of Resolution 57/2024/UBTVQH15 which approves the proposal of the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court regarding departments, bureaus and equivalent, and the press agency of the Supreme People's Court.

Resolution 69/2025/UBTVQH15 amends Clause 1 Article 1 of Resolution 57/2024/UBTVQH15, approving the proposal of the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court regarding the departments and their equivalents within the Supreme People's Court as follows:

The departments and their equivalents of the Supreme People's Court comprise of:

- Department of Planning - Finance;

- Department of Information Technology;

- Department for Supervision, Criminal Inspection;

- Department for Supervision, Civil Inspection;

- Department for Supervision, Inspection in Business - Commercial, Bankruptcy, Labor, Family, and Juvenile Affairs;

- Department for Supervision, Administrative Inspection;

- Department of Legal Affairs and Scientific Management;

- Department of Organization - Personnel;

- Department of International Cooperation;

- Inspectorate of the Supreme People's Court.

Prior to this, according to Resolution 57/2024/UBTVQH15, the Supreme People's Court had 11 department-equivalent units; 2 press agencies (Cong Ly Newspaper, Supreme People's Court Journal).

Organizational structure of the Supreme People's Court of Vietnam

According to Article 47 of the Law on Organization of People’s Courts 2024, the organizational structure of the Supreme People's Court includes:

(1) Council of Judges of the Supreme People's Court;

(2) Office;

(3) Departments and their equivalents;

(4) Training institutions;

(5) Press agencies.

The Supreme People's Court has the Chief Justice, Deputy Chief Justices, Judges of the Supreme People's Court, Judges of People's Courts, Court Reviewers, Court Clerks, other officials, public employees, and laborers.

The Standing Committee of the National Assembly approves proposals for the establishment, reorganization, or dissolution of the agencies and units specified at points (3) and (5) based on the proposal of the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court. The establishment of the training institutions specified at point (4) is implemented according to the provisions of law.

Resolution 69/2025/UBTVQH15 takes effect from February 10, 2025.
