Vietnam: What requirements must a professional secondary school curriculum meet?

Recently, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam issued Circular 43/2010/TT-BGDDT on Regulations on the compilation, selection, assessment, approval, and use of professional secondary education textbooks, which stipulate the general requirements for professional secondary education textbooks.

What requirements must an intermediate professional curriculum meet? (Illustration)

Article 7 of Circular 43/2010/TT-BGDDT of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam stipulates the general requirements for intermediate professional curricula as follows:

1. The content of the curriculum must concretize the requirements for knowledge and skills stipulated in the standard program and the school's training program for each subject or module; meet the requirements of vocational education methods and have a basic orientation on teaching methods, testing, and evaluation.

2. The information included in the curriculum must be accurate and systematic, suitable with reality, and updated with the latest achievements in science and technology; must not violate the law, negatively affect national security and international relations; cause division in national unity, incite violence, propagate religion, outdated customs, or superstitions; go against national morals and customs.

3. The curriculum must have a reasonable structure; besides the requirements for content, information, and other needs, each chapter or lesson of the curriculum must include questions or exercises and a list of reference materials for that chapter or lesson. Reference materials for compiling the curriculum must be reliable and have clear origins.

4. The citation or inclusion of information from reference materials into the curriculum; the selection and use of existing curricula (not compiled by the school) must comply with the Intellectual Property Law, the Publishing Law, and the current regulations of the state.
