Vietnam: Assistance for agricultural production in the event of natural disasters and epidemics

In Vietnam, agricultural, forestry, and fishery households in areas affected by floods and other natural disasters will receive assistance for the revival of production if they fully meet the requirements as prescribed.

Decree No. 02/2017/ND-CP of Vietnam’s Government specifies the assistance based on the actual damages as follows:

1. Assistance for plants, forestry production and aquaculture:

2. Assistance cattle and poultry farming:

a) Losses caused by natural disasters:

Deers, sheeps and goats	1.000.000 - 2.500.000

b) Losses caused by epidemics:

Buffalo, cow, goat, sheep and deer	45.000 VND/kg
Poultry such as chicken, duck and geese	35.000 VND/con

3. Assistance for salt production: VND 1,500,000 and 1,000,000 per hectare for area of salt production suffering from a loss of over 70% and 30% - 70% respectively;

4. Assistance for plants, livestocks and fisheries not prescribed in clause 1, 2, 3 and 4 in this Article, Chairperson of People's Committee of provinces and centrally-affiliated cities shall determine specific assistance rates appropriate for the loss according to budget balance capacity, production features and actual requirements in local authority.

Decree No. 02/2017/ND-CP of Vietnam’s Government takes effect from February 25, 2017.
