Supplementing regulations on the content of environmental protection planning (Illustrative image)

To be specific, in Articles 30 and 31 Draft Environmental Protection Law (Amendment 2020) additional regulations on the content of environmental protection planning have been supplemented as follows:

Products of national environmental protection planning:

- National environmental protection planning report;- Environmental zoning map; maps of the current situation and orientation of areas needing conservation, protection, and restoration of the environment and ecology nationwide; maps of the current situation and orientation of concentrated national and inter-provincial solid waste and hazardous waste treatment areas; maps of the current situation and orientation of national environmental monitoring points and networks.

Environmental protection content in regional and provincial planning:

- Main environmental protection content in provincial planning is integrated into the provincial planning report;- Plans, programs, and development investment projects must align with national environmental protection planning, and the environmental protection content of regional and provincial planning;- The Government of Vietnam stipulates in detail the principles and criteria for delimitation of areas needing conservation, protection, and restoration of the environment and ecology; planning orientation, investment development in the regions delineated for conservation, protection, and restoration of the environment and ecology; mechanisms, policies, and roadmap for stopping operation or relocating production, business, and service facilities that are not suitable with national environmental protection planning, the environmental protection content in regional and provincial planning.

Thus, this draft has revised and supplemented regulations on the main content and products of national environmental protection planning, as well as the environmental protection content in regional and provincial planning.
