Requirements for Knowledge and Skills in the Fashion Design Sector at Intermediate Level

Requirements of knowledge and skills in the field of fashion design at intermediate level (Illustrative image)

Circular 40/2018/TT-BLDTBXH specifically stipulates the minimum amount of knowledge and skill requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from the intermediate level in the fashion design profession. Details are as follows:

1. Regarding the amount of knowledge

- Present the elements of fine arts, the principles, and layout in fashion design;- Present methods for selecting and identifying target customers and product lines according to research topics;- Present the characteristics of human body proportions, body shape, anthropometric measurements, appropriate size systems; sketching methods;- Present the characteristics, structure, properties of sewing materials suitable for fashion products, environmentally friendly;- Describe the operation process of electronic sewing equipment, maintenance, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, 5S;- Analyze the characteristics of product shapes, technical drawings of sketches;- Present the order and methods of pattern design, cutting and sewing various fashion products;- Present some common mistakes in pattern design, cutting, and sewing samples;- Analyze the influence of color, material, style, proportion, structure on the process of designing, cutting, and sewing products;- Present the product management process, product display, process of researching, understanding customer psychology, persuasive product introduction methods;- Receive and understand customer feedback requirements about products;- Present the process and methods of product quality inspection, causes and solutions to errors, and the contents of technical standard tables.- Present basic knowledge about politics, culture, society, law, national defense, physical education as stipulated.

2. Regarding skill requirements

- Design fashion collections according to themes suitable to fashion trends and market demands;- Select appropriate types of materials and colors for various outfits, end users, and environmentally friendly;- Design fashion patterns according to the right order and methods, meeting requirements;- Cut and sew, complete various fashion products and collections ensuring both aesthetic and technical requirements;- Inspect product quality and produce comprehensive and accurate quality reports;- Use single-needle, double-needle sewing machines, overlock machines, buttonhole machines, button attaching machines, bartacking machines, and some electronic and automatic devices;- Introduce, display, advise, and sell fashion products at fashion stores or online;- Detect and handle errors in designing, cutting, and completing fashion products;- Apply soft skills such as presentation skills, negotiation skills, communication skills, problem-solving skills, conflict resolution skills, teamwork skills… effectively in working processes;- Use basic information technology as required; apply information technology in some specialized tasks of the profession;- Use basic foreign language, achieve level 1/6 in the Vietnam's foreign language competency framework; apply foreign language in some specialized tasks of the profession.
