Regulations on Policies for the Vietnam Coast Guard Forces

The Ordinance on the Vietnam Coast Guard Force 2008 was promulgated on January 26, 2008. This Ordinance prescribes policies for the Vietnam Coast Guard Force.

To be specific, according to the provisions of Article 25 of the Vietnam Coast Guard Ordinance 2008, policies regarding officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Coast Guard are implemented in accordance with the law applicable to officers and soldiers of the People's Army and other relevant legal provisions.

The State has preferential policies in line with the nature of duties and areas of operation of the Vietnam Coast Guard as follows:

- Long-term service allowance in border areas and islands;- Responsibility allowance according to the specific profession of officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Coast Guard;- Sea allowance.

The Government of Vietnam prescribes in detail the preferential policies for the Vietnam Coast Guard.

In addition, the Ordinance stipulates that officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Coast Guard are to be trained and fostered in politics, expertise, professional skills, law, and other necessary knowledge suitable for their assigned tasks; encouraged and facilitated to develop their talents to serve the Vietnam Coast Guard.

The funding for the organization, construction, and operation of the Vietnam Coast Guard is guaranteed by the state budget.
